A genome-wide linkage analysis assessing parent of origin effects in the inheritance of birth weight (334 sibling pairs, 92 families) found significant linkage at 11q13.4 (73.7 Mb) with birth weight being predominantly linked to paternally inherited alleles (paternal LOD = 4.1, maternal LOD = 0.0) (Lindsay RS, et al. 2002).
