Relative repression of the paternal allele of Cd81 (Tapa1) in extraembryonic tissues, but not the
embryos, during early development (days 9.5, 10.5, 17.5) has been reported (Umlauf
D et al, 2004; Lewis
A et al, 2004; Dao
D et al, 1998; Caspary
T et al, 1998;Kulinski TM et al,
But knockout experiments provide no evidence to support genomic imprinting (Maecker
HT et al, 1998), and using somatic-cell hybrids no evidence of imprinting was found in human (Gabriel
JM et al, 1998).
Proudhon and Bourc’his suggest that detection of preferential maternal expression in the placenta
may be attributable to expression from maternal tissues. They propose that the imprinting status of
this gene should be interpreted with caution
and Bourc’his, 2010).
