Zdbf2 (zinc finger, DBF-type containing 2) was paternally expressed in various embryonic and adult
tissues. In the placenta and adult testis, biallelic expression was observed (Kobayashi H et al, 2009). Three
paternally methylated DMRs are located upstream of Zdbf2. Although present in the germline, these
DMRs appear to be re-established after implantation and therefore might be regarded as secondary
DMRs (Kobayashi H et al, 2012).
Zdbf2linc (a long intergenic non-coding splice variant of Zdbf2) which is transcribed from the Gpr1
DMR, is expressed from E3.5 to E7.5, from the paternal allele (Kobayashi H et al, 2012). It may have a role
in establishing the Zdbf2 DMRs after implantation.
Okae H et al (2012) (supplementary
table S1) and Wang X et al (2011) reported imprinted
paternal expression of Zdbf2 in mouse placentas.
