Taxon:

Pig

Gene:

PHLDA2

Chromosome:

02

Location:

382,900-383,750

Description:

PHLDA2 (IPL [imprinted in placenta and liver], TSSC3, pleckstrin homology-like domain, family A, member 2) shows preferential maternal expression in pig (Bischoff SR et al, 2009), as observed in mice and humans. By quantitative allelic pyrosequencing the paternal allele contributed 10-30% of the expression in the placenta (Bischoff SR et al, 2009).
PHLDA2 is shown to have variable imprinting status in different developmental stages. The gene is maternally expressed in 1- dayold newborns but the imprinting is lost in 180-day-old- adullt (expressed from both paternal alleles) (Hou S et al, 2009).
