MIR483 (hsa-mir-483) is located within intron 7 of IGF2 (Fu
H et al, 2005). The mature form, miR-483-3p, is overexpressed in Wilms tumours, as well as in
30% of colon, breast and liver cancers (Veronese
A et al, 2010). It has been proposed that miR-483-3p may protect cells from apoptosis (Veronese
A et al, 2010).
The imprinting status of miR-483-3p is not yet known, but because it is
transcribed off the same strand as IGF2 it is likely to be paternally expressed.
