Mcts2 (malignant T cell amplified sequence 2) was exclusively expressed from the paternal allele in
newborn brain and a strong paternal allele bias was seen at embryonic day 13.5 (Wood
AJ et al, 2007). Human MCTS2 is also imprinted and paternally
MCTS2/Mtcs2 is a monoexonic retrogene derived from the X chromosome gene MCTS1/Mcts1.
The Mcts2 promoter shows germline maternal methylation.
MCTS2 retrotransposed into intron 4 of HM13/H13 of mouse and human. It is absent in the genome of
cow and dog.
