A murine Hymai gene has been putatively identified (Arima
T et al, 2001; Arima
T and Wake N, 2006). It overlaps Plagl1 (Zac1, Lot1) and the region contains a CpG island that
putatively regulates imprinting of both genes. The CpG island shows differential methylation of the
maternal allele in both human and mouse.
Loss of expression in oocytes from parthenogenetic embryos between days 10 and 20 has been used to
claim evidence of imprinting in mice (Arima
T and Wake N, 2006).
