MKRN3 (makorin ring finger protein 3) was expressed preferentially from the paternal allele in the
brain tissue of six heterozygous rabbits (Lianshan Black x New Zealand White).
MKRN3 was hypomethylated in the sperm of New Zealand white rabbits and hypermethylated in MII
oocytes. MKRN3 was found to be hemimethylated in the brain tissue of six rabbits, where it is highly
expressed. MKRN3 was found to be hypermethylated in the liver of the same individuals, where it is
not expressed (Yuan L et al 2016).
