Tierling S et al, (2009) identified two
transcript variants for Begain (brain-enriched guanylate kinase-associated), one of which
(transcript from exon 1B) is preferentially expressed from the paternal allele, whereas the other
showed expression from both parental alleles.
Okae H et al, (2012) reported bialleic
expression of Begain in E13.5 placenta, but they used RNA-Seq technique that might not distinguish
the two major transcripts.
Begain is imprinted in sheep but for humans, evidence for imprinting is lacking.
