ZNF597 (zinc finger protein 597; previously called FLJ33071) showed predominant maternal expression
in lymphoblast cell lines
from 10 members of two CEPH pedigrees (Pant PV
et al, 2006).
The ZNF597 promoter was identified as paternally methylated from analysis of
androgenetic complete hydatidiform moles and maternally-derived mature cystic ovarian teratoma (Choufani S et al, 2011). This was confirmed
by analysis of cases
with genome-wide UPD. Methylation was restricted to the paternally derived allele in placenta,
leukocyte and kidney. Maternal expression was observed in brain (n=1) and placenta (n = 3), and
expression was observed in leukocytes (n = 2) (Nakabayashi K et al,
ZNF597 was monoallelically expressed in 7 placentas and the expressed allele could be defined as
maternal in 3 cases (Barbaux S et al, 2012).
