Description:

The NAA60 (N(alpha)-acetyltransferase 60, NatF catalytic subunit; NAT15; HAT4)/ZNF597 promoter was identified as paternally methylated from analysis of androgenetic complete hydatidiform moles and maternally-derived mature cystic ovarian teratoma (Choufani S et al, 2011). This was confirmed by analysis of cases with genome-wide UPD. Methylation was restricted to the paternally derived allele in placenta, leukocyte and kidney (Nakabayashi K et al, 2011).
NAA60 isoform 1 was maternally expressed in both placenta (n=5) and leukocytes (n=1), whereas isoform 2 was biallelically expressed (n=4) (Nakabayashi K et al, 2011). Morcos L et al, (2011) showed biased allelic expression of NAA60 in fibroblast cell lines. Exclusive maternal expression was then shown in three informative parent-offspring trios.
