Taxon:

Dog

Gene:

IGF2R

Chromosome:

01

Location:

Description:

IGF2R was maternally expressed in uterus and umbilical cord. Although there was inter-dog variation in the expression patterns, expression in the brain and the kidney (n=2) was biallelic, whereas expression in other tissues (lung, heart, liver and skeletal muscle; n=2 or 3) was predominantly or exclusively monoallelic (O’Sullivan FM et al, 2007).
Using bisulfite sequencing, the canine IGF2R resembled the imprinted mouse Igf2r in having a CpG island in intron 2 that is hemi-methylated. However, it differs from the mouse gene in that an anti-sense transcript (AIR) from the paternally derived allele could not be detected, nor was there methylation of the repressed IGF2R promoter (O’Sullivan FM et al, 2007).
