Taxon:

Pig

Gene:

PEG10

Chromosome:

09

Location:

81.6 Mb (Sscrofa10.2)

Description:

PEG10 was paternally expressed in all tissues tested (heart, liver, spleen, lung, kidney, stomach, small intestine, skeletal muscle, fat, uterus, and ovary) in Meishan and Large White crosses (Zhang FW et al, 2007 ). Monoallelic expression has been independently confirmed in Chinese Erhualian - Yorkshire crosses (Zhou Q-Y et al, 2007).
Porcine clones created using day 27 primordial germ cells (PGCs) showed biallelic expression of PEG10, suggesting that parental imprints are erased by this stage of embryogenesis (Wen J et al, 2010). Clones derived from day 35 PGCs showed paternal monoallelic expression of PEG10.
