Description:

A search for QTLs affecting meat quality was carried out for crosses between Meishan and Dutch Large White and Landrace lines. 785 F2 carcasses and their parents were typed for genome-wide molecular markers. "Line-cross" and "half-sib" models were both used for detection of linkage. A region on SSC14 at 96cM (markers S0007-SW1557) showed suggestive linkage with "Meat pH - semimembranosus muscle (ham)" when paternally inherited, analysed under the line-cross model (P = 0.10)(de Koning DJ et al 2001).
