Taxon:

Cow

Gene:

NNAT

Chromosome:

13

Location:

67.1 Mb (Bos_taurus_UMD_3.1 Primary Assembly)

Description:

NNAT (neuronatin) has long (alpha) and short (beta) transcripts. Both were monoallelically expressed in three fetuses and one dam in a wide variety of tissues (lung, brain, liver, kidney, muscle, ovary, pituitary, mammary gland, eye, intestine, endometrium, lung, spleen, heart). The expressed allele was said to be paternal but this was not obviously demonstrated (Zaitoun & Khatib 2006).
NNAT expression was detected in embryos arising from in-vitro fertilisation, but not in those from parthenogenetic activation, consistent with the imprinting (paternal expression) of NNAT in bovine embryos (Ruddock NT et al, 2004).
