Dcn (decorin) was maternally expressed but only in the placenta: all other day-15.5 fetal tissues
showed biallelic expression. The number of tested fetuses is not stated (Mizuno
Y etal, 2002).
Note: since DCN is not imprinted in human, pig and cow, and the apparent maternal expression might
reflect maternal contamination, it would be useful to obtain independent confirmation of this finding.
However, Okae H et al, (2012) provided
strong evidence of negligible expression of Dcn by qPCR and whole transcriptome sequencing in E 13.5
placentas. They suggest that this gene is not imprinted. This is concordant with Proudhon and Bourc'his, (2010) caution that maternal contamination of placental tissues may
cause apparent imprinted maternal expression.
