Imprinting:

Maternal allele silenced; paternal allele active in yolk sac (Deltour L et al, 1995; Duvillie B et al, 1998; Giddings SJ et al, 1994).

Gene Product:

Insulin; growth factor and hormone activity, reviewed in Yenush L et al, 1997.

Functional Data:

There are two insulin genes in the mouse, and they have partially redundant function in metabolic processes and growth regulation (Duvillie B et al, 1997).
